Thomas Logan has spent the past nine years creating software applications that address compliance and accessibility. Logan is the Chief Technology Officer for HiSoftware helping ensure the company delivers automated content compliance software to help organizations manage their accessibility, governance and privacy challenges. He has experience designing compliance solutions for a broad suite of technologies including Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows Forms, Flash, JavaScript, and Delphi. Logan’s work has included building a fully functioning accessible Web application for ARIA and WCAG2. Previously, Thomas was the principal Program Manager at Microsoft for the accessibility framework Microsoft UI Automation in Windows Vista. Logan holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina.

Industry estimates indicate that as much as 20 percent of the public cannot access Web pages and other Internet resources due to accessibility challenges. As a result, they cannot use the Web to research goods and services, or purchase products sold online. How many potential customers are excluded from any Website and the information contained within it as a result of visual, auditory, or other physical disabilities?

Following WCAG regulations for Web accessibility is not only a requirement for many industries, geographies and public sector enterprises, but a smart practice for any business who wants to maximize the reach and influence of its products and services. Making sure every company’s websites are compliant with the latest standards can help gain valuable market share and avoid the risks and penalties of costly litigation or other business interruptions.
