Content management systems (CMS) like SharePoint have been making great strides in recent years to make their basic infrastructure more accessible to end users.  However, a serious issue still exists with respect to the content that is continually added, often by users unfamiliar with accessibility best practices.  Each user has the potential to create content that make an accessible site become inaccessible.

In this technical session, we present a model of “On Demand verification” using HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff that can be used to validate content as it goes in, preventing it from being published if it does not meet accessibility criteria.

Objectives of the presentation and benefits for the audience include:

1) Increase awareness of content accessibility problems in CMS platforms;

2) Demonstrate a repeatable process for ensuring that content submitted by users is kept accessible;

3) Learn quick tips on common accessibility issues with Microsoft  Office documents;

4) Show how to use Compliance Sheriff to check accessibility as part of the SharePoint workflow process;

5) Reveal how automated tools empower the end user to make fixes saving valuable development cycles.
