Summary

PLEXTALK is a worldwide leading designer and producer of DAISY players since 1998.

PLEXTALK is providing a new firmware update for its portable DAISY player: the PLEXTALK Pocket.

The version 5.00 allows the visually impaired user to read DAISY content (2.02 and 3.0) as well as most audio formats and text documents like Microsoft Word.  The major new feature is the PODCAST and WEB RADIO function using the integrated WIFI connection. The visually impaired user can easily connect to a wireless hotspot and start downloading podcasts and streaming web radio. The new version of PLEXTALK Pocket can distinguish between music files and audible or audio books.

PLEXTALK also offers a new desktop model: the PLEXTALK PTX1 PRO. This DAISY player has network capabilities so that the user can connect to a library using the DAISY ONLINE PROTOCOL for streaming and in the future downloading books and other contents like talking news papers. A demonstration of both products was given during the workshops of the forum.
