General description

Mobile communications make possible to access a great variety of information in more and more diverse situations, in the daily life or at work.

Moreover the increasing power of embedded systems enables them to run applications that only computer could run, only a few years ago.

For these two main reasons, mobile communications are revolutionising the way we communicate in the Information Society, in the daily life, in schools or universities, and at work. They also open new opportunities for people with disabilities. For instance, visually impaired people can use mobile GPS systems to find their way in an urban surrounding, or a person with motor impairement will be able to read a book on a Personal Digital Assistant installed on his/her wheelchair.

This 3d European eAccessibility Forum will focus on the application of these technologies for a better inclusion of people with disabilities at the workplace. Various situations will be considered, covering different needs related to training, mobility, access to information, communication. Concrete cases will be discussed. Solutions will be presented, ranging from commercial products to research prototypes.

The speakers are specialists involved in organisations representing users and consumers with disabilities, research organisations and companies operating at a European level or worldwide.

The conference will provide an opportunity to hear at first-hand about the experiences from users with disabilities, purchasers and industry. The workshop will encourage the harmonisation of good practices.
